Introduction

What have I done? What have I become? So long ago, it seems, was the time when I was a human being. Then I knew what it was to love, to care, to truly live. In the whole of my existence, that time was nothing but a moment. A brief moment, now long past. The time when I had a heart is gone. That soul has deserted me, left me, as nothing but a soulless imitation of a human being. Just an empty shell.
But...was this truly my fault? It was not I, but my Creator whose wish it was for me to perform what actions I did. Being only a creation, could I have acted any differently than the way in which I was intended to by my Maker? Though if that is truth, then I was never meant to have a soul. That would mean that my destiny was to remain the heartless pawn of my Creator. A mindless killing machine. A monster.
Even with that knowledge, I used every part left of my free will to fight it. Even if it was my fate to succumb to the will of my Maker, still, couldn't I, as a living being, change that future? What would happen if I refused the destiny that was forced upon me by my very creation? Could I do it? This was uncertain, for there was no way of predicting the future that would be the result of my actions. Still, I made my bet on the possibility. I tried to change the future.
