"Haven't you thought about it? There may be just another world out there waiting for us!"
I often used to ask myself, "Don't you want to know what's out there? What may lay just slightly out of your reach for you?" But I don't don't anymore... why? I can't kid myself anymore. There isn't a place that I can just curl up and hide in and hope for all the bad things to go away... It's not possible... Because... problems don't go away by themselves. They don't... they never will... So... why am I hiding now?

In front of me... bodies... bodies that were still warm and bleeding. There were many who are calling out for their families, for anyone to deliver one last message to their families. I have goosebumps all over my arms and legs. Just what is this? Blood and dirt are mixed as one... it's just... a disgusting red sludge in place of dry dirt. I felt nauseous, I couldn't keep my head from spinning. My stomach reeled from the disgusting smell of burning flesh and blood combined. I keeled over and threw up, spilling out what little food I had in my stomach. Collapsing to the ground in weakness, I dragged myself into the bushes and watched as feet stomped past me. Angry shouts filled the air, their soldier was lost. No... their soldier is right here... hiding in the bush... I wanted to speak, but words would not come out from my dry, cracked lips. I was going to die of dehydration or getting found out.

After what seemed like forever, I reached down to my water bottle and drank the last gulp of water. It's now or never... get out of this place... Slowly crawling out of the bushes, I slowly looked up. Coming face to face with the muzzle of a gun. I heard a loud bang. It was like everything was in slow motion, like I could actually see the bullet traveling through the air. Slowly... almost too slowly... as if mocking me. As if telling me... "I'm going to kill you..." My limbs wouldn't move, and I could only stare as my whole body went numb after a sharp, intense pain entered my temple. Then I felt myself falling to the ground, slowly... ever so slowly. My eyes close... is this the end? I won't even get a second chance to redeem myself? No... this can't be it.. I've still got so much to live for... so many people waiting for me back home... Not... yet....

My eyes suddenly open and I sit up, as if it was all a bad dream. Looking around, I realize this isn't anything like my place. My head hurt and my hand instinctively went up to my bandaged head.
"Tsk... ow..." I hissed. Laughter was outside and a girl came in, she was young. About 12. She gave me a small canister of water. I took it and drank it thirstily. She gave me a quizzical look. I blushed and looked down, of course, what would it look like if a stranger... although not too much older than her, just grabbed the bottle of water and downed it.
"Sorry..." I apologized and handed the bottle to the girl, she shook her head and did a few gestures. This girl... is a mute. Another girl walked in, about the same age as me. Around 17 years old, dirt blond hair and startling gray eyes. My arctic blue ones connected with hers and I saw something in them that is seen only in older ones... wisdom.
"Um... where am I? Who are you? How do I get back home?" I asked in a haste.

The older girl sighed and shook her head,
"You have many questions..." Even her way of speech... is so old. This made me feel like a mere child... getting spoken to by an elder.
"My name is Aleia, this is my sister Lily..."
"U-uh... nice to meet you..." Aleia spoke in some weird language to her sister who nodded and did a gesture that seemed to say 'nice to meet you too'. I smile,
"So uh... where am I again?" I questioned, like a curious child.
"Come, I'll show you" How did I get the feeling that maybe I wasn't anywhere close home? Oh right, I'm not supposed to be! Following behind, I realized that the 'house' was a hut. A rather big one... but still a hut. Walking outside the door, my eyes widened. No... this can't be happening because... because....

To be continued...
