Just a poem I wrote in my U.S. History class because I got bored.
You let me in
Going against yourself
Letting your walls
Slowly come down.
We were both abandoned
By the ones we loved;
Becoming each others support.
You built me up
And made me think
I was enough
I held you close
And kept you near
You took my face
And wiped my tears
You said your heart
Was growing dim
I gave you love
To help you heal
And hope with all hopes
That you’d keep me safe
I gave you all I had
Almost as a bargaining chip
And trusted you
To treat me with care
Yet you took my heart
And it began to crack
As all those walls
Came slamming back.
You shoved me out
And kept me at bay
Never letting me
Get to close
You left me there
In the pit of misery
To scream and shout
My dismays
Now I sit in the dark
To weep and mourn
For the loss
Of that once burning
Spark
With tears running
Down my face
I prayed to god
To spare me with grace
And take me away.
