A poem about a loss
Though I’ll never meet you,
Or feel you in my arms,
or ever hear a sleepy sigh,
You’ll still be in my heart.

Though I’ll never comfort you,
or sing you off to sleep,
or rock you in a rocking chair,
This memory I’ll keep.

I will cherish the time
no matter how short it was
that i called myself a mother
and did what any mother does.

I had to make a choice, my love
and keep your heart in mind
your tiny heart was not meant for me,
At least not at this time.

Perhaps we’ll meet at another time
but for now, i know, i can’t call you mine
You belong to the sky, the sun and the moon
But never think, my love, i will ever forget you.
