The 300
We 300 stood straight and tall
In the mighty phalanx we didst fall,
In a narrow pass we made our stand
With the hope of preserving our land.
Immortal men were sent to fight,
But against them Spartans proved their might.
Once word spread that they were betrayed,
The 300 and Leonidas stayed.
They crashed like a wave upon spear and shield,
Until not a spear didst we wield.
Arrows twanged and Spartans saw the end:
With Persia none could contend.
I bring you this tale
To tell you of the time freedom didst not fail.
In hope of better days did we fight,
Now we see that we were right.
