Struggling with a phase used too often, especially during my battle with breast cancer.

This too will pass-What will pass?

Sitting on the shoreline in a blanket of fog,
A ship passes in the mist of uncertainty,
The sound of the horn-piercing in my ears,
A storm is on its way-No need to prepare,
This too will pass?

Searching for the calmness of smooth waters,
Waiting for the fading of time,
Where am I heading lost in the storm;
Who am I to experience this aspect of turbulence?
This too will pass?

Opportunities can develop out of the storms,
A chance to cope and develop new skills,
To gain the trust of a true friend,
Discover my strengths in faith and love.
This too will pass?

The storms of life can be wicked,
The pressures of time to rebuild,
Feeling at times I am too tired,
Thinking I have seen too much,
But life has not passed…

Moments of experience have come;
Some troublesome with a lesson,
Some pleasant with a treasure,
Crying to drain the weakness,
Strength built from laughter,
I have fallen, but I am still standing.

The heart has known hurt,
The body has known failure,
The mind has known forgetfulness,
The soul has known loneliness,
It too did NOT pass,
Instead,

God’s touch has been soft,
God’s hold has been comforting,
God’s hand has been strong,
God’s grace has been lifting
He did NOT just pass, but moved me,
Into,

Each day that has been a journey,
Each moment of construction,
So I could find my way in the fog,
To absorb and map the circumstances,
To calmly rejoice for whom I am today.

Tomorrow will not just pass,
God’s guiding light through the fog,
Will pierce my heart on the shoreline I stand,
I will witness the sunrise of gold and glory,
Because this too will NOT pass!
