Its funny how having to provide a description can feel so wrong
A drum beats today
Far, far, far away
so many miles I can not hear
yet I feel the beat
I feel it clear

the drum precedes
the hangmans noose
hanging there
ever loose

will I hear the drum stop
will I hear a silent drop
will I hear a cry
or will it just be
a gentle sigh

Fate plays a tune today
far, far, far away
the drum calls out to the rope
to spirit away the last of hope

or will the drum still mark time
this rhythmic stick to us bind
I wait, I wait, I wait to hear
for now this sound I do hold dear

I remember the way you smile
all teeth and lips
twinkling eyes and ready quips
the way your laughter would
fill us both with glee

I remember your tickly side
the way you would look at me and know
then run and hide

I remember
riding through baking hot soi
you leaning in close to me
your mouth whispering in my ear
as we laugh and ride
our intent clear

I remember your sleepy face
hair strewn across and out of place
running you a waking shower
watching you blossom like a flower

all the big things that we did
mean nothing at all to me
but all those small moments
when we showed we cared
forever in my memory

I remember, as you would pass by
on your way for something else
your hand would glide over me
almost subconsciously
in those moments
we were free

I remember holding your body in the ocean
letting the waves set our motion
as the sun set on a perfect sky
never did we question why

I remember the joy I knew
every time I looked at you
the only thing I hope and prey
you also remember things this way
