I stand alone in the night
Blackness fills the soul
The moon shines pale and sick
Scudding clouds across the sky

Erie shadows all around
Darkness beneath the trees
Mysteries of the unknown
Primitive fears

Gleaming lights cold and clear
Diamonds shine far away
The obscure stars
In the infinite expanse

The whisper of a breeze
A rustle of leaves
The night is silent
In the eternal gloom

Part II: The First Battle

Distant thunder in the night
Explosions fill the air
Sounds of far off gunfire
Tearing people to shreds

Screams of terror in my mind
Imagination running wild
To far to hear the sound
Of hell on earth

See the rockets red glare
No flag left standing
They all wave in Hell
Where war is god

Far away in the dark
The battle rages
Feelings of detachment
Here there is no war

Part III: Feelings of Patriotism

They came before the night
Burning with patriotism
Colorful flags and marching steps
Opinions without thought

I hear their words
We must fight
To bring you freedom
To destroy evil

Devils in the night
We go to fight
To cover their fields in gore
Massacre their hated host

You will be safer soon
The enemy vanquished
Devils banished in the light
Praise the names of the dead

Get ready for the charge
On to battle and glory
The bliss of the kill
Gods of war

Part IV: Understanding

I wonder in the night
No one dies for me
Freedom of the mind
Allegiance to no one

My life is mine
Evil is indulgence
I live of the land
Simple is better

Never in need
The land provides
No hate known
In the music of life

Growing things
The subtle magic
The preservation of life
No use for war

Part V: The Others Come

Soldiers in the night
The other patriots
Uniforms covered in blood
Flags tattered and limp

They call to me
Danger lurks
We die for you
Guardians of good

Devils in the night
We must fight
Smash their miserable lives
Mangle their dead

You will be safer soon
The enemy destroyed
Devils gone back to hell
Praise the names of the dead

They move on
Filled with new enthusiasm
Ready to kill
Gods of war

Part VI: The Last Battle

War again, in the night
Far off sounds
More hate and bigotry
The earth quakes in blood

I stand again in the calm
The eye of the storm
Fear the oncoming battle
The hurricane of war

We must better war
Spend everything on it
No time to learn
No time to tolerate

Hate beyond reason
I shudder with revulsion
Weapons become more massive
Their destruction unequaled

Part VII: The Wasteland

The dead unaffected in the night
The innocent are the ones who pay
They who do not kill
Their lives filled with anguish

The dead get the honor
The people feel the blame
The dead mourned
The living left in dread

I stand in the wasteland
It was once my home
The land no longer provides
In the infernal desert

Wasteland before me
The gain of war
They gave no freedom
Only chains

Devils in the night
We cannot fight
We are the devils of war
Satan laughs
