Alone Now

alone now:
    tonight i will lay me down with me.
                      my soul will find rest,
    without my will or worry
                      my heart will beat,
      my blood will flow in my veins,
                        my mind will cease,
      being under my willful control,
                        and I will sleep.

alone now:
    no one else inside my skin,
    no voices inside my head,
    only I am here.
    But, then the dreams come,
    most I won't remember.
    Faces of people I do not know,
    Places I have never been,
    and voices unknown in my waking life.

I am only and always just dreaming I am alone and one single soul,
You are always there somewhere,
All of you and everyone, in my waking, in my sleeping, in my dreaming.
I can not escape you--named or nameless other.
                  Never Alone,
    We are only pretending we do not know each other,
      We are all connected by flesh and bone,
    by soul, by blood, by thought, by word, by time, by earth, by death, by birth.

        Please don't hurt yourself--the whole universe will feel it.
