A song of dreams and a flight of imagination |
On A Night Like Tonight On a night like tonight I could fly To flit through the sky on gossamer wings And I think if I really did try I could skip through the sky It would be a delight To play leapfrog with planets and stars From the earth to the moon from the moon on to Mars I could slip through the silvery night And alight from my flight somewhere distant and far From on high I could trip through the sky like quicksilver lightning If I tried On a night like tonight I could fly. On a night like tonight I could glide To play hide and seek with the moonbeams and stars And I think if I really did try I could swoop up and dive Into frothy-topped clouds To slide endlessly down through the grey And come out all wet on a cold, rainy day I could dodge through the lightning so bright And stride through the heavens with comets and asteroids From on high Or to ride down a breeze on a feathery thistle If I tried On a night like tonight I could glide. On a night like tonight I could fly To see what lies over the further horizon And I think if I really did try I could reach right up high And follow my dreams And not wonder why I’m trapped down here When there’s so much to do not a moment to lose I could do so much good with my life But such a short time and I don’t get to choose When I die I could soar to the heights but there’s so far to fall Should I try But tonight I’ll just dream I can fly. |
