An obituary poem to encourage mourners to celebrate my mom's recent passing.
I always knew this day would come
And yet it seemed too fast
Everything was moving in slow motion
The day that I learned I’d pass

I remember every one of you
I was praying for that day
When the angels summoned me
And told me I’d be on my way

I didn’t mean to be selfish
But the news made me excited inside
If you remember when we last talked
My pain I could no longer hide

I thought about seeing Jesus
And all those who’d gone before me
About leaving behind this old worn suit
And shouting the victory

Please remember all the laughter
That we shared over the many years
Know that I’m safe with God, the Father
So when you cry, cry happy tears
