An exploration of important moments that happen in silence |
Listen To The Silence Have you listened to the silence of the raindrops as they fall If you listen very closely you'll hear your lovers call Have you listened to the silence of your baby as they slept Often times I've sat there and watched and openly wept Have you listened to the silence after a lover’s bitter fight They both had their agenda each thought that they were right I've listened to the silence of her teardrops as she cried I've listened to the silence that followed her last goodbye I listen to the silence of my heartbeat so alone I listen to the silence as I cry alone at home Have you listened to the silence that follows joyous news The kind that leaves you breathless and changes your point of view Have you listened to the silence of your lover as they sleep You sit and wonder at their peace and sometimes openly weep Have you listened to the silence of such joy not denied, Its screams its message quietly that love just cannot die Have you listened to the silence as dreams rush though your mind Very often they leave you wondering if you’re stranded out of time Silence can't be smothered it can only be listened for One has to understand it to know love forever more I've listened to the silence of her teardrops wept with pride Our love is true, we're one again we've swept all trials aside I listen to the silence of our breathing as we sleep Our bodies now united as one and you my Love, I'll keep So listen to the silence as it speaks its quiet words Listen to just what it says, hearing what should be heard Jim Dorrell 7/5/06 I've intentionally chosen no end punctuation in this poem. I feel that in poetry, you often don't need punctuation in the form of line end commas or periods. As the reader reads it, they can pause where they wish, and perhaps get more out of the poem than with punctuation present. |
