A poem about a guy asking a girl to marry him.
I am a little nervous
But I will remain composed
For it is on this night
That I will propose

I’ve dreamed of this moment
For my whole life
I am finally ready
To make her my wife

I’ve kept it a secret
To make it a surprise
I can’t wait till I see
The shocked look in her eyes

Throughout the day
I had felt a little stressed
At dinner though
I was a complete mess

I wanted to be calm
But the harder I tried
The more my emotions
Bubbled up inside

At first I was quiet
Randomly muttering
And when I did start talking
I couldn’t stop stuttering

I started laughing
When I “proposed” a toast
Flustered I looked down
And said; “to pot roast”

At one point
I lost all control
I asked her to pass a ring
Instead of a roll

It was time to ask the question
But I started to choke
I actually popped the question
With a knock-knock joke

I said, “knock-knock”
She replied: “Who’s there?”
“Will you marry me?”
I said with a stare

At the end of the day
I feel blessed
It may not have been perfect
But she said “yes”
