A poem of what growing up is like for some of my generation, but I'm not accusing anyone.
Sometimes it's hard not to miss
Those days when we could escape,
Mistakes were expected,
And life was about crayons and questions.

Now we're judged,
Criticized and looked down upon,
Because we're expected to be perfect
And grow up.

They forget that no one's perfect
And we're still only kids.
Learning the ways of life,
Learning who we are.

They shove responsibilty on us
And expect us to support it on our own,
As if we're somehow expected to already be an adult
And skip any faults.

They forget we need love,
Attention and forgiveness,
Respect.
They forget that they were once us.

It's because of people like them,
That we're growing up too fast
And they still believe
That we don't understand what respect is.

And yet they still blame our generation.
Maybe we should teach them compassion.
