A mystery/horror poem for a good chill
As my eyes open wide and i see I am alone
the house is silent, not a whisper, or a ring on the phone
I get out of bed looking for my kin
but not a trace, of anything, not a sign of skin
I walk to the town to the pub where I used to eat
it is empty and silent where me and my friends used to meet
I walk past the theater, grocery store, and motel
this small little town has become a silent hell
As I walk back home some hope I see
it is a letter written to me
I pick up the letter and start to read
with each word my heart gains speed
this small sign of hope is quickly long gone
like Bambi I feel, a motherless faun
endorphins course my veins and I get scared
the good people of my town, one fate they shared
the ink I noticed was not at all fun
black in the moonlight yet crimson in the sun
the words it made were far too scary
I felt like a child who said bloody Mary
it described where I could find me friends
and exactly how they met their terrible ends
I followed the directions down to the stream
the river was black as if I were in a dream
I took a sip and got a horrible taste
I spit it out with great haste
It tasted thick and just like change
what came to minded sadly wasn't strange
it tasted of blood, thick and rich
like the earth had a wound that needed a stitch
I kept on my way and saw a terrible sight
hundreds dead with no sign of a fight
their bodies were pale and i soon saw why
the truth was told by the light from the sky
their blood had drained into the stream
and soon I was in a nightmare no longer a dream
who could have done this I thought to myself
the answer was there but far up on the shelf
as I looked around in a terrible haze
I see a tree in my dream like daze
as I get closer to this sad looking tree
it reveals the answer.....the killer is....
