A poem about a woman whose modeling career and marriage fail. |
Allison’s sweeping dirt and junk With a broom, she’s doing a job – Congratulating her with jovial spunk, Is her approving boss – a big, fat slob. She buys an outfit for a low, low price At the locally-owned clothing boutique, So on weekends, looking real nice, She might date a man whom she finds unique. But Allison’s an aspiring model, Only for clothes or make-up she’ll pose, She’ll model shoes and hair, as well, But at the nudes, she’ll thumb her nose! Then, at a fashion photo shoot, She met the president of the agency, This handsome and wealthy, well-dressed coot Just dazzled Allison with looks a-plenty… This man, Ben, and she started dating, A successful gent with a much younger woman. With his help, there was just no deflating, Her career in fashion, it really began humming. Ben and Allison eventually wed, In a huge ceremony, attended outdoors. They’re a perfect couple, or so everyone said, In a circus which everyone, but those two, adores. But life became tough as his empire crumbled; Several events caused a dismal decline. Ben had to sell, and the marriage just stumbled – No more vacations or lifestyle so fine. Allison’s modeling days were soon over; She couldn’t find work to make ends meet. So she went back to school for a total makeover, Studying nutrition, her job change complete. Her new husband, Chuck, and she are now happy, Raising four kids while he’s gone half the week Driving a truck, as kids, mommy, and pappy Sparing their mommy’s old photos a peek! |
