The next day was the dreary funeral. It seemed as if the most cloudy and dark day was purposely there for them. Cindy had regretted yelling at her mother and slamming the door shut. Repeatedly she said the words "Im sorry" to the cold body. All of the people her mother had known and all of her family were there. Just as everyone had said their kind words about Ms. Demetrie, had the preacher stood at the stand that was covered in black. No sooner had had the preacher had took out the bible, a gunshot flew and hit the preacher. The preacher stood there, frozen, then fell to the ground. Cindy turned around, as did Lance. They stared at the holder of the gun. It was their lunatic father. Cindy screamed, grabbed Lance and hid behind the bushes. A few moments later everyone was screaming and running. A few more gunshots, and uncle Tom fell. It was quiet minutes later. The omnimous quiet. Cindy saw their dad, continueing to shoot their moms dead body. He repeatedly yelled "Thats for calling the cops on me, bitch!" Cindy tried to cover Lances ears at the word but her hands wouldnt move. Suddenly, footsteps were moving in their direction. Cindy grabbed Lance once again and ran down the street. Cindy, although terrified, was completely concentrated on keeping her brother alive. Their footprints made a soft thud on the sidewalk. Then, Cindy saw it. A black car, with the keys still inside them. "Hmm...," Cindy, though only 13, was going to survive, and knew exactly how.
