Voices in My Head

They talk to me
They know my shame
They know my life
They speak my name

They relate my thoughts
And create my dreams
They sometimes take control
Of my life stream

Sometimes they scare me
Sometimes they don't
I can hardly live with them
But live without them, I won't

I need them for company
When the world is so far
It's people, so busy
Having their feuds and wars

The voices, they tell me
Of secrets, I hear
They share with me such wonders
They keep away my fears

I need them to live on
But I fear their being here
I want them to stay
But I don't want them near

It's a confusing reality
That they and I share
It's a close distance
Of which we are aware.
