Tower At The Edge of All

I had a frighteningly vivid dream one night, about five years ago, woke up the next day and the dream was still in my head. So I started writing this. My first instinct? Post the whole thing in one glurt. I don't like breaking up a story that wasn't meant to be told in parts, but - hell, this thing must be thirty pages long if it's a page.

Some very brief definitions:

Odin: usually considered the supreme god of Germanic and Norse mythology. His role, like many of the Norse pantheon, is complex. He is god of both wisdom and war.

Baldr: the god of innocence, beauty, joy, purity, and peace, is Odin's second son. Nicknamed "the beautiful", is known primarily for the mystery surrounding his death. His death is seen as the first in the chain of events which will ultimately lead to the destruction of the gods at Ragnarok.

Loki: the "god" of mischief, is described as the "contriver of all fraud". He mixed freely with the gods for a long time, even becoming Odin's foster-brother. Loki was not so much a figure of unmitigated badness as a kind of celestial con-man, who always managed to persuade the gods to give him another chance. Loki is an adept shape-shifter, with the ability to change both form and gender. According to some scholarly theories Loki is conceived of as a fire spirit, with all the potential for good and ill associated with fire. In myth, Loki's role is predominantly associated with Odin, either as Odin's wily counterpart or antagonist.

Jormungand: was a child of Loki. The gods knew Jormungand would be dangerous for humanity, so they tossed the serpent into the waters that encircled Midgaard, where it grew so big that it was able to surround the Earth and grasp it's own tail (Ouroboros). Jormungand is also referred to as the Midgaard Serpent.

Fimbulwinter: (fimbulvetr) is the immediate prelude to Ragnarok, the end of the world. Fimbulwinter is three successive winters without any intervening summer. During this time, there will be innumerable wars and brother will kill brother.

Ragnarok: ("fate of the gods") is the battle at the end of the world. It supposedly would be waged between the gods, led by Odin, and against the fire giants, the Jotuns and various monsters, led by Loki. Not only will the gods, giants, and monsters perish in this apocalyptic conflagration, but almost everything in the universe will be torn asunder.
