a short story i've been fussing over its okay if u don't like it its a work in progress
They both talked about poetry and philosophy for hours until the night broke. She rested gently in the embrace of his arms calmed by the soothing rhythm of his heartbeats. The arms themselves belonged to a boy named Joey . Barley 17 and already the star of his local baseball team, he was well liked, and looked up to by every other boy in his neighborhood. His eyes were a penetrating hazel color that never escaped the praise of the girls passing by, its the first thing Marigold had really noticed about him. That and his secret affection for poetry. a secret to everyone but her. She had stumbled across this skeleton one night when she accidentally took his notebook home from science class, after asking if she could copy his notes. That night, after wrestling hopelessly with her curiosity. She had decided to let it win, in the hopes that no cats would be killed. She thumbed through doodles and poorly drawn graffiti several times before finding Joeys creative writing assignment. a poem which she would constantly say was the reason she loved him. The poem in question was simple and short, stamped next to it was a lofty A+, and a barely decipherable comment from the teacher."Bravo son, the best Ive seen yet". They turned to each other, Joey stared dreamily at Marigold, lustrous love filled dreams running rampantly through his mind."What are you thinking about ".Whispered Marigold softly. "Nothing important"."Don't give me that someone who writes poetry like you, cant have nothing on his mind, i wanna know tell me" . She crooned. He thought for a moment and decided to tease her ."Your eyes . "She sat up to look at him ."What about my eyes?"."They're a nice backdrop to the stars". Marigold's face instantly turned a bright scarlet , she turned quickly to hide her embarrassment ."You say such stupid things". She said with a big smile on her face. They embraced each other again , not unlike swans do when they see winter, only this time he held her closer .a few moments go by unnoticed by either of them , only the chorus of crickets and rustling trees filling their senses . Marigold instinctively checked her cell phone , she was greeted by three angry belated texts from her father ."Oh shit!". She exclaimed violently ."What?"."Oh my god!".She rose and joey with her, a puzzled look on his face. "what's wrong?"."i gotta go".She turned to leave when joey grabbed her arm , pulling her uncomfortably close , something neither of them seemed to mind ."I wanna ask you something"."what?". She said impatiently . "Meet me after school tomorrow "."Look Joey we just started going out ,i haven't even told my father abou - "its nothing like that , i just wanna show you something". She took a moment to answer , a look of interest lined her doll like face ."Yeah, sure, what time"."1:30"."That's not after school Joey".She said scolding ."It is for me". This time she looked at him intently , as if she was trying to see his hidden agenda."Fine ". She said in a wary tone ."Fine ". He repeated mockingly. With that she quickly turned to race home.Joey watched her as she raced down the street admiring her grace. He had known that before she moved to his neighborhood , at her old school she was a track and field star , And had won many medals and prizes . She even told him that once she was featured in the local newspaper for a new record . Joey started to make his way home down the familiar sidewalk , the nights events fresh in his mind . So that when he got home he fell into a deep sleep , dreaming of nothing but marigold. Untitled The stones are thick with the passing of time , they crust over at the shallowness of creeks . Here is where i saw sunlight unbidden for the first time, and all meaning was lost.Hopeless i fumbled , and to the starry nights splendor, i asked ."Does it mean anything at all " . A poem by joey. story to be continued
