This is a brief prologue for a potential novel.
                                                          VISIONS

Prologue

I really hate the visions and their resultant obligations. They’re heavy, and hard to think about.  They’re not dreams or daydreams, but visions.  These visions will come to pass regardless of anything mankind may or may not do.  They’re not negotiable, they’re inevitable.  There are others that share these visions and it is to them that I dedicate this book.

Knowing that something will come to pass is daunting and when you truly know, you feel a sense of obligation to tell someone.  Not to change it, because that’s not an option, but to tell someone else is instinctual.  We must remember what it’s like to be human, because in the not so distant future, will we no longer be a civilized society.  We won’t remember much from the world we live in today.

The condition we will find ourselves in resulted from us trying to unlock the secrets of life and the universe.  Eventually we’re going to get there and our plight will be similar to the Babylonians.  They built a staircase to heaven and for this, God punished them.  God spread them to different parts of the earth and gave them different languages. They had to start over, with a significant handicap.  They got too close, and history, as it always does, repeats itself.

Our technology is advancing at an exponential rate.  The internet has given most people instant access to cultures and data from all over the world.  Different languages are no longer a barrier to communication. Our economy is becoming global, leveling the financial playing field for most countries.  We are building machines that will create a black hole.  There’s stem cell research, cloning and human organs growing in petri dishes.  We’re playing with fire and we’re going to get burned.

Just like the Babylonians, God gave us our intelligience and freewill. He knew we would get close to unlocking secrets that are not to be unlocked.  The pattern will repeat itself and once again we’ll start over.  This is the story of that journey.
