It helps if you've got a pistol and can talk to dogs.
"Are you COMPLETELY sure about this?" I asked Hoof.

Hoof nodded, moving his large head up and down, which looked very odd for a dog. 'I guarentee its them!!', he mumbled, in my head of course. He looked at me with his large amber eyes. 'Trust me on this.', he said seriously. I nodded, and watched him shake hmself thoroughly before giving me a grin filled with yellow teeth. 'Thanks,' he said, scratching his ear with his hind leg as I waited for him to go, 'you'll have your stones back in no time!!'.

"They're DIAMONDS!!!" I hissed for the tenth time, "they're very valuable stones for us humans.." Hoof chuckled and wagged his tail, 'you humans set store in so many useless things,' he mumbled in my mind, his voice sounding amused 'these little rocks, those pieces of paper. Ha!'

He was starting to get on my nerves, "Are you going to go in and help me or not?" I asked him, staring at him. He returned my stare with intensity. For all those people whizzing by in their automobiles, we must've looked like any other pet owner and dog on a walk. We both turned to look at the small entrance in the brick wall of the plot. From where we were, we could see high weeds and who-knows-what-else in the bare plot of land. 'Remember the code.' Hoof muttered. "What about my pistol?" I asked him, pulling out the little gun from my pocket. Hoof eyed it warily, 'You can use that thing, as long as I'm not in the way,' he said, 'alright, its time.'

I unclipped his leash and he bounded off into the plot. I stood waiting, on tenterhooks. There was a loud bark-which meant all was ok. A second bark- something's up. There was a pause, during which I heard someone mutter something from inside the plot. There was a sound of a scuffle and the third bark- Hoof's emergency signal.

I pulled out the pistol from my pocket and cautiously made my way into the plot of land. Waist high weeds and plants of parthenium were the first things I saw. The horrible smell of urine and faeces hit me next. The plot of land was a public toilet! Wrinkling up my nose, I fought my way deeper into the land, and then I saw the sight. Two men were seated on a pile of bricks. The same men who had broken into my house. One of them was clutching a cloth bag-containing MY diamonds. the other seemed to be wrestling with Hoof, attempting to subdue him. Nobody noticed me sneaking into the plot.

With shaking hands I lifted up the gun and pointed it at the one sitting idly with the bag of diamonds, watching his partner. I gave no warning and I shot him. It was quick and simple. The man was dead before he knew it, and I was a murderer. The bang was loud. VERY loud. The man's partner let go of Hoof, who promptly bit him hard on the hand and then bounded back to my side. 'Go on!! Kill this idiot too!!' Hoof cried in my mind. The thief lay nursing his arm, staring up at me. He opened his mouth to say something but I didn't want excuses or sympathetic stories- I shot him too.

'Good job,' said Hoof, nudging my side, 'Now we got to get out of here, I smell people, LOADS of stinky people heading our way.'

I nodded. I picked up the little cloth bag from the dead man's hands and pocketed it. I climbed over the wall of the plot of land after helping Hoof over it. We then set out into the unknown. We couldn't return home because we would be charged of murder, so we were on the run:
