they were lovers once upon a time, they now hate the living guts of each other. |
Second bit. There would be more to come. Just working on it. =] I decided to add some character description as well. Do read and review. and Enjoy! =] Trigger 2 At oh-two-hundred, the FBI got the strangest call. Two voices, a man and a woman's: "Oh my GOD-my-my-s-son-Daniel-" "He's dead; he's d-dead; oh Jesus-" "Daniel!! Daniel!!" "Oh G-God, no, no-" "James, he's dead-oh G-" "Stop! Stop!! Please don't; do-" "No! NO!! James, please, James; no!!" "Pl-" "Not h-him-too! Please just-" There was a gurgle, and then a scream of a terrified woman; the connection was soon cut off. An hour later, two calls came in. One from a renowned FBI agent, one from an ex-convict. Both had found a black bag filled with mangled limbs and parts of human bodies lying on their bed when they had returned home. Shane Jackson He was one of the best FBI agents they had. Due to an accident almost five years ago, he had suffered nerve damage in his brain, to be more precise, he can no longer feel pain. The strangest thing was, he can touch and be touched, but it seemed like beyond a certain point, his nerves would just stop transmitting electrical signals to his brain, his body would not realize that it is being damaged. However, it did not mean he was invisible. In more ways than one, this made his life more dangerous. Being unable to feel pain meant that he could bleed to death without knowing; die of fever without feeling it; suffer from an infection without it's impact; be in severe exhaustion and have muscle deterioration without knowing it; all dangerous for a field agent who constantly had himself stuck neck-high in danger. However, due to this incredible ability, the Government and the Agency saw that he was a worthy investment and began to work on quicker muscle regeneration to enable him to be more of use on the field. It worked, now he was not only the man that couldn't feel pain, he was the miracle healer as well. Alyssa Feiel She was a daughter of a maniac, a scientist obsessed and a genius-gone-wild. Being experimented on as a child, her father wanted to create the perfect soldier and what was the perfect soldier except a girl with no fear? Genetically modified, she can feel every other emotion except horror. She didn't know what it was like to be brave, didn't know how thrilling a roller coaster ride could be, didn't know how to live the life of a normal human. There was also a biological and physical weakness to this change. Because of the lack of fear, whenever she got excited, adrenaline would pump through her system like there's no tomorrow, leaving her to black out as soon as the excitement stopped. She has learnt to control this to a certain degree, but not fully. Her father chastised her for not using her 'gift'. She just called it a 'curse'. All her life she never knew how to fit in, always been the abnormal freak, the loner. When she hit the legal age she escaped her father's clutches and left to join the FBI. She was not widely accepted for being the way she was but she was happy to be able to save the lives of others. One tough night, one drink and one handsome-as-hell male later, she was knee-deep in love, with a man who seemed to understood everything she had went through both as a girl and a woman. She was happy for three short years, but unfortunately for her, good things always came to an end. He had to choose between her, or the rule-book; he picked the rule-book. Serving a sentence at prison for 4 years because her partner turned her in for hiding evidence on a case concerning her mad father. She now just fights in the streets because without love, without family, the only way she felt anything was when her fist is imbedded into some rapists' head. Their own city's vigilante. ---------------------------------------------------------------- The first thing she did was check for any foreign presence in the room, as soon as she realized that there were none she locked all the doors and windows, and then placed her white gloves on. She knew what to do, she knew that she can’t disrupt evidence or alter it, but she had to find something to go on before the cops did and what’s better than to do some research herself? There was a tear on the bag, causing blood to leak out and drench her entire bed with the crimson liquid. Alyssa carefully stepped around the blood dripping on the ground and untied the black bag. The grotesque sight of the different mutilated body parts was enough to make anyone heave their guts out, but fortunately for her she had been ‘trained’ to hold her stomach in the worst of situations, and as far as situations went, this was definitely bad. She couldn’t possible stick her hand into the bag without messing up the parts so she decided to leave it be, scanning around her room for a clue on the killer she saw that her place had not even been broken it, at least not violently, meaning the person either had a key, or knew how to pick locks. Alyssa frowned, but that would be almost everybody in this part of town. Sighing she took off her gloves and placed it neatly next to the body bag, she would explain when the police comes what she used them for. She didn’t want to end up being a suspect to this case. Better let the professionals handle it. She couldn’t help but scoff to the irony of her thoughts; once upon a time, she was the professional. Picking up the landline she dialed a number. For some reason, either the nostalgic part of herself, or it was just automatic muscle reflex she dialed a number she hadn’t in almost 4 years. “Mick Rosille speaking.” Alyssa hesitated. Mick used to be her friend back in the old days, they were really close and told each other almost everything. He understood why she did what she did, but he also understood why she was placed behind bars. She hadn’t contacted him since she came out, she felt either too guilty or too hurt, she wasn’t sure which. But she knew that he was affected by her leaving the Bureau, by her ‘betrayal’. “Hey Micky… It’s Alyssa.” There was a pause on the phone, a long lasting silence, then “Alyssa… You’re out? How have you been? Where are you now?” It pained her slightly to her the genuine concern behind his voice, but it was too late, neither of them could go back to the way things used to be. After all, he was still part of the Bureau and she was a criminal with a record. “I’ve been alright, living- But look, there isn’t why I called. I have a situation in my hands…” She carried on telling him what happened after she returned home, what she had found and all that. After she was done there was another odd silence, as though he had something he knew about all this. She frowned. “Do you know anything about this Mick?” Again a pregnant pause, before he replied, “It seems like there’s something similar occurring at another side of town.” Before she could say anything he interrupted her. “Alyssa, you need to come down to the Bureau. I will send out a team to your place ASAP. One of the officers would take you here.” “No. Mick No.” she hissed, “I can’t go back to that place.” “I’m afraid you have no choice…” his voice sounded almost truly pained. “You have to report in and give a statement.” “Can’t I just give a statement here? Or down at the local station?” “I’m afraid not Aly, the Boss wants you here.” “But-“ “I’ve got to go. It’s somewhat of a situation over here right now, I’ll see you soon okay?” “Mick-“ “It’s good hearing from you again Aly despite the circumstances, I missed you…” Guilt almost overrided her entire being, before she nodded slowly, even though she knew he could not see her actions. “I’ll see you soon.” He said before he hung up. She sighed as she too placed the receiver back. Standing in the center of her bedroom now turned crime scene she sat onto the chair by the corner, eyes never leaving the body bag on her bed. Her eyes followed the trial of blood that collected at the other corner of the room. It was a bad situation, it was a bad place to be at, but she couldn’t help but feel the excitement of being part of a big case once again. She didn’t want to admit it but she missed doing true, lawful work but she was getting tired of playing batman. She sighed as she placed her head in her hands, leaning over as she tried to calm her adrenaline filled heart, at the rate this was going she would end up passing out before she reached the office. Plus, she had to mentally prepare herself, to the likely fact that she would be seeing him too. ------------------------------------- to be continued... |
