My childhood was very peaceful. We woke up and smelt ashed toast. It was smothered in a creamy, melted, yellow substance that tasted delicious. Mama stayed home watchin' after baby sis, as I heard her piercin' cry wakin' the pets up. I got dressed for the horrible white condition pounded ev'rywhere outside. I snuggled in my big heavy coat and headed out the door. As i walked, I saw the church. Immediately, I thought of Gram'ma. She died only when I was a little girl. Going inside is where I felt secure, knowing a presence was watching over me. I knew she was there with me.
