In the darkness I hide to escape my emotions

In the darkness I hide to escape my worst fears

In the darkness I hide to escape the unsafe
feelings of my past

In the darkness I hide to escape the unsafe
feelings of abuse

In the darkness I hide to escape the unsafe
feelings of my abuser

In the darkness I hide to escape the screaming
sounds of slaps happening every second

In the darkness I hide to escape the self inflicting
pain

In the darkness I hide to escape my death

In the darkness I hide to escape the wrath of
my abuser

In the darkness I hide to escape the bad things
that lie ahead in my future

In the darkness I hide to escape what my death will
be and when

In the darkness I hide to escape the movie of my
life being played all over again
