In the darkness

As I sit here in the darkness,

With tears streaming down,

This pain in my heart is all that I feel.

It hurts so bad,

I can’t make it stop,

I can’t stop the tears,

No more than I could stop,

Loving you all these years.

Through good times & bad,

Were the vows that we took,

Unfortunately, for me,

They were just words from a book.

I gave you my heart,

I gave you my soul,

And in return from you,

All I got was this cold, dark, empty hole.

This hole that I’m in,

Is filled with sorrow & hurt,

The anger & rage are in there too,

Just hard for them to find their way,

Past all of this sadness & hurt.

Why could you not just cherish me,

The way I cherished you,

To Love me back,

Was all I ask from you.

People tell me that is won’t last forever,

But how does a pain that hurts this bad,

Ever, ever go away?
