Psychopath

Psychopath,
Devoid of all feeling,
Maybe that wouldn’t be such a bad billing.

Just to slip through life,
Wielding a knife,
Smiling as you lie there and bleed.

Avoid the pain and torment,
Of love and lust,
Joy and peace,
Of needing so much to be happy.

Alas,
I am no psychopath.
My guts ache,
My head spins,
My soul soars and wrecks.

I am all too normal,
All too like you,
Day to day brings rises and falls,
Straining my very being,
And always confusing me.

The life of a heartless monster,
A joy few know,
And probably none appreciate.
