A poem about the importance of looking past beauty and looks.
My Imperfect Beauty

She was the ugly duckling today
and the outcast of tomorrow
Gazing at her misshapen face
I was her love, never her sorrow.

She was my imperfect beauty
I yearned for from places long and far.
Despite her tangled hair and limp
She always walked like a movie star.

Between the love and hate
Her flaws mirrored mine.
The caress of her bruised skin
Told my heart I was her Valentine.

Beyond the abuse and pain
Between our warm embrace;
Love bloomed like a wildflower;
My heart remembered her imperfect face.

She was my imperfect beauty
I cherished like fine art.
With every glimpse I took
She always stole my heart.
