Ever been broken, ever seen a broken child?
Broken. We all know the meaning of that word, don’t we? Look it up, it says reduced to fragments, not functioning properly, violated, interrupted, disrupted, need me to go on? We understand what it is to be broken, and most of us believe that we have felt broken at one time or another, but really how many of us have truly been broken, felt that pain, felt violated and defeated and like we were broken into fragments? Look at yourself, look in a mirror and write down what you see. If you see someone who is able to stare back at you, and make eye contact, you are the least of the broken, congrats. For any of those who look in the mirror and see who you really are, or who you believe yourself to be and maybe even make eye contact but are unable to recognize the person in the mirror. If you feel as if the person in the mirror staring back at you is not you, you are broken, but you aren’t so damaged you can’t recover. Now for the unlucky ones who look in the mirror and see nothing, no one, you are broken, you are not functioning properly, you have been violated, your life has been interrupted and it’ll be hard but if you try hard enough, you too can recover.
Take a walk, stare at the clouds, and look around. What do you see? Have you ever talked to a child, the imagination, the creativity, the joy now imagine a child who is broken, ever been broken, now if this child is broken, what will become of them? Will they become angry, or maybe they will be unhappy all their lives, but what about the few children who are broken but are somehow glued back together? Are those children better off than the others? I don’t believe so because if you have ever glued something, which I assume almost everyone has, you know that even the strongest glue can be worn down and eventually lose the ability to hold anything together. What the glued stops holding this child together will anyone be there to catch them? Will anyone even know that they were at one time broken? You see when someone or something is broken it probably won’t be around as long as something that has never been broken, and a child who has been broken and been picked back up, will most likely break again and the second time they will fall so much farther and so much faster.
