There are some Still Life With Woodpecker references in this one and an Ishmael one.
Reds cried all over the world,
On this sad, sad day.
The Earth gathered 'round,
And stood hand in hand,
Watching it all crumble down.

The oceans stopped their waving,
Their friend was falling into them.
"Help, help, help," they cried.
"Our comrade is losing his balance,
He needs to be picked up:
He's cracking, He's breaking."

Down, down, down:
The moon fell hard.
Shot out by the sun, he looked around.
Rock replaced the sea.
Flames licked his wounds.
"Where am I?
This is not my home:
This is not the sky.
What have I done to deserve this?"
"You crossed the sun, little one,"
The gate man cackled in his ear.
"Ooh what a treat!
We've been waiting for a soul of your power
For centuries.
How delightful!
You used to turn the seas,
Now you'll churn our gears during eternity."
"Ooh no.
No, no, no!
I want to go back to the sky!
I want to drink the stars daily and
Spit them back out past evening;
I want lovers to gaze upon me,
Holding on to each other,
while romantics look at my surface,
and yearn.
Your gears, I can't churn.
Please, please, please,
Send me up, send me home."
"Why do they always beg, my friend?
You are here to stay."
"But from the lovers to the Takers,
I am needed.
I am important."
"Yes, that's all very well,
But now you're in hell;
Tell it to someone who cares."
The gates started to open,
"No, no, no."
Suddenly, the moon was gone;
There was no hope.
