REMINICES OF MILITARY LIFE : MY FATHER IN LAW 70 . SEES 50 YRS GO BY.
Fiftieth Sunrise - REMINICES OF MILITARY LIFE

The sun rises beautifully once again today,

As it rose Yes some fifty glorious years away

When we saluted with our sloping swords

As we slowly marched into the famous

Chetwode-Hall in IMA Dehra Dun, our India

Then we threw our caps in the air,

The day of commission 13 December

As now we needed them no more,

Commissioning day had arrived

As the higher ups did assure

My Zozilla Company brethren,

Rose to the rank of General,

Regrettably I was the only one

LOB, left out of battle.

I could have been the sixth one.

But for the sleight of the pen

Of those two superior national men,

Their names incidentally started

With the alphabet capital ‘N’,

I don’t know where they are,

Still on earth or safe in heaveN

But for the black italics of their pen

I wouldn’t have ever, ever risen

To the level across the five continents

So I have to definitely salute them

Now I am a poet of worldly place,

Only because of their unknowing, grace

Those who read me happily and gladly

They send lovely heart rending comments,

Those bring tears to my eyes,

Of happiness, are from across

The United States of America,

Canada and South America,

Africa and Australia,

The Far East, the land of the rising sun,

Japan, China and Philippines

Also across the Central continent,

Europe, the United Kingdom and Egypt,

Not to forget Russia

Last but not the least,

My very own country,

I love our very own India.

I suffered from the Cancer of my Ego,

But now I fear it no more

As it goes,

Where-ever all and whenever I go.

Today we complete a half century

As commissioned officers of the world’s

Greatest, the most cherished Indian Army.

So I thought of our success sharing

Without unduly my ego glaring

My love, respects and regards

Go to all those who still know me

Also with those who are no more

Yet perhaps could be somewhere

Of that I’m not really quite sure.

Thank you friends, fans and Generals

Also my equals and contemporaries,

For still bearing with my poetry

This one time once more it’s not the last one

This I fully and confidently do assure.
