MMM...Just Some Fun.
I stand in that meadow, where flowers bloom sweeter than ever. The sun splashes my face, the wind whips through my hair, but I don't notice. My eyes are shut.
I am not really here, nor do I want to be.
I am afar, deep in my mind, where time is not ticking or aging or quickening. It stops. Yet things go on, blurring together to make a perfectly unrealistic and sensational story that is more real to me than the story I'm living.
Who am I when I lurk in the back of my mind?
I am a fairy queen with soft sparkling wings. I sit on a tiny throne of twigs and vines. There, I spend my time laughing and eating and dancing. But I must ever remind my magical subjects to stay hidden, unseen, invisible things. So our kingdom is safe from harm.
I am a famous jockey. Living for speed and exhilaration. At times it feels as though my horse and I are one, Speeding away to chase the wind. But this time I look around me. I see my competition on either side, the crowds cheering and shouting their names. I smile mischievously at them, knowing I can go faster, but can they? I push my horse harder, getting a lead, the finish being near. But the racer on my right matches my speed and smiles as his horse takes the lead. He watches me as I act surprised relishing my trick as he thinks he's won. I break his spirit right there and then as i start to laugh, and with one last whip my horse jolts ahead just in time to cross the finish line
and claim my prize.
I am a princess from a faraway land. Tonight I wear my light pink gown with silver jewels encrusted on the bodice. I tingle with excitement as I step into the ballroom, where a royal party awaits. I dance with men old and young. I dance so gracefully and charmingly everyone can't help but watch me. I don't have a care in the world, things are simple and all planned out. Until I meat my prince. He sweeps me across the dance floor and whispers in my ear he doesn't try to impress me, he just does. I know right away my former betrothal won't go through. My royal mama and papa see it in my eyes right away. They tell me to ride away with him on his chestnut horse, to be happy and loved, and
I do.
I am a mermaid with long streaming hair full of shells and seaweed and sand. I have a luminous slick green fin that propels me through the dark cold sea. I don't breath air but instead feel the wonderful salt water serge though my lungs. I watch the moon above, blurred and rippled through my window of water. I float on my back let the current take me before I go back home to sleep on my sea bed surrounded by treasures and trinkets lost to their owners above.
I am a hard, barbaric woman who scavenges the deep Indian jungle. I climb and swim and hike forever, unaware of time. The animals become my friends after so much time left alone. To my horror poachers come to shoot and scare and ruin. My boots leave no tracks as I hunt the hunters that dare wonder in my maze. Though my hunts are a success the hunters keep coming. They remind me of where I came from and I long to see civilization once again. But I stay secluded in my jungle,
protecting it always.
I am a prima ballerina. The stage lights gleam in my eyes, the music booms through me, as I take center stage. On my Point shoes I begin to move. I don't just dance, I feel. I've practiced and fought so very hard, and here I am. It's all paying off because I don't think of the steps I'm doing anymore. I just move as if I was the very first person to ever dance ballet.
When I wake from my dreaming, I'm back in that meadow, where flowers bloom sweeter than ever. Where the sun splashes my face, while the wind whips my hair. I remember who I really am. Me. That truth is better than anything I can
Imagine.
