A poem about the grimmer side of being in love. Think of unanswered love or the like. |
Burden of Love A poem by Aranka Geerdes Four things that never meet Do here unite To shed my blood And to ravage my heart A radiant brow And tresses that beguile And rosy cheeks And a glittering smile Toppling round the dreary west A looming bastion Fringed with fire Beneath her scars Her beauty yet shines To me she is That merry wanderer Of the night A drop of her Numbs the tongue A sip Sends the heart racing A draught Reforges the body For he Whom on honey dew has fed And drank the milk of paradise Dream’s riches are easily spent For some flowers Bear deadly seeds Her blade draws blood Without ever touching As silent as a shadow And just as hard To flee…….. When I gave in I only started my fall She can ail What cures me A crash of rhino’s In my head Waiting for it to pass But waiting in vain What is crueler ? To let a wound of the heart fester Or to simply Cut it out ? I have to change my mind Or else it will change it for me Anger is fleeting Remorse is Eternal Let her go And I will live Cling on to her And I will die This good advice I cannot heed Healing is a matter of time But sometimes it is A matter of opportunity I am filled with a thirst For HER I am a victim Of the two toed faerie |
