A story...a poem
He sat all alone…I wondered why
He looked around then stared at the sky
He mumbled something…I really couldn’t hear
And then he looked at me…that’s when I saw fear

Sitting in a cafĂ©…all alone
He stared at me…as still as a stone
As if he wanted to say something aloud
But when he started 2 speak…nothing came out

I saw his lip tremble…I saw his hand shake
He was a complete stranger with helplessness on his face
I wondered if It’s some-one he needs
I wondered if he’s regretting a wrong deed

I went next to him and sat by
The stone broke…n he began to cry
I held his hand to comfort him a bit
“What’s wrong sir” maybe I can help you with it

He put the trembling hand in his pocket
He pulled out a small note
This, he said has left me at an unrest

I took the note from him…I read to myself

“ Dad…I know you have done a lot for me
But with you, life’s never hassle free
I have a life of my own and want to live it my way
Don’t need you anymore…want problems at bay
I’m leaving you…sorry to leave you alone
But all this might not have happened had you let me grow”

I looked back at the man…he cried even hard
Said.. that it’s the son’s birthday today…and he has a paining heart
Like a protective parent…he gave his child all that he’d want
And today at 16 years…the son’s words cut him like a sword

Looking at him, I couldn’t help but cry
My eyes sparkled with the tears I couldn’t hide
He saw me, he felt like a fool
Next moment, he was off his stool

Some chocolate and a flame was all that we need
To celebrate his small little treat
He smiled a smile of pain…I know he tried hard
He was here, but he was far……..

He walked away, I wondered why
People who deserve happiness…always end up getting tears in their eyes…….
