A poem about a distant ex love.
The steel horse you ride in on is beneath you.
Stallions, camels, bareback tame tigers.
Something exotic should transport you.
But you come, as everyone else, in a steel horse.
And you deserve more.

You belong to me.
For vague, indefinite periods.
You ride in and rescue me.
Or capture me.
I haven’t quite made my mind up.

I picture you with wings.
If anyone could soar it would be you.
In your glory and your wisdom
I see you glide
above the Madrid skyline,
passing your life, and mine in a way,
with your adventure; leaving intrigue
and regret in your wake.

And you know he and I have a life.
Settled, stable, comfortable.
But ,
I can’t seem to keep from waiting;
Waiting for you and your steel horse
.......................................take me away?
