Connecting nature to freedom to the circle of life. |
Nature is freedom, Nature is free Free, Something I yearn to be When you first come into this world The wind will hear your first cries The beauty of nature will be there When you first open up your eyes It's still there as you live And as you grow From the warmth of summer on your cheeks To the coldness of the sparkling snow The soft green grass dancing in the wind Brushes against you as you roll and crawl And as you learn to walk, The grass will catch you as you fall Then you become a young kid Running down the street People can hear you coming From the sound of your pattering feet Yet still you get older And when time comes for school, You must find friends who like you for who you are And will stay with you when you act like a fool But nature is still freedom, Especially when you become a teen With cruel jokes and some backstabbing friends High school can be so mean. Anyone would want to get away From the drama of the halls, Being crowded into a desk And trapped between four walls But when you are surrounded by the trees And drowned in the sweet smell of fresh mowed grass You taste the sweet freedom Away from the bitterness of class It's like the trees shade you From the spite of peers The wind, which has been everywhere, Whispers words of comfort in your ears And I sit with the giant oak trees, Who have seen much pain throughout the years For they will hold my secrets down to their roots And catch my falling tears And of course there are relationships Which add stress into our lives It's beautiful when you find true love Yet horrible when, in your back, they leave knives And those horrid break ups will happen, And salty tears will be brought onto your eyes Yet just like clouds up in the clear blue You will be pushed towards brighter skies And all I wish, all I want Is to be free from any pain I wish it could all be washed away Like my tears are washed away by rain If I had one wish granted onto me My wish would be to be free For being pushed down is hard, Yet I guess grass is cut down too And inevitably, it will grow back strong, And just like it, so will me and you Though all the grief, though all the storm, Older I become. Life gets harder, yet ever sweeter, For even when you lose, you still win some Through college days and parenthood, Nature will still be there And all your memories of freedom Will be in the feel of the grass and the smell of the air And when the hands of God come, And my time to go draws near, I will not feel sad or grieve For my freedom will appear When I die, when I leave I will shout the word 'freedom' For then, I will be free |
