Born January 19th, 1809,
Edgar Allan Poe was a favored poet of mine,
He attended Grammar School in Irvine Scotland,
After attending Reverend School at Strole Newingont near London,
He was a foster child who had a dream,
And his wives kept dying so it seemed.
At Harvard University awarded Guess Professor,
Edward Cummings was never better,
His first book was called “The Enormous Room”,
Then he came out with two poem volumes.
Interrupted were her studies at Amherst College,
Ill health was the problem,
Forced to move back home with her father,
Still Emily Dickinson remained a well rounded daughter.
Last but not least there's Langston Hughes,
He was very popular in the era of the blues,
For forty years he was a prolific writer,
He died of cancer in 1967,
I hope to God that poet went to heaven.
