When you give of yourself, sometimes you lose a little bit of you.
Somber Succor

Here I am again, but the where is not clear.
I was with the one, then the one was not here.
Then I was with another, but another came and went.
Now I am alone, sitting in the dark, breathless and spent.
Oh how these cycles of life torment me endlessly.
I should forsake others, only worry about me.
Alas, I cannot, my very nature forbids it.
Others quit me, but on others I can never quit.

When I see struggle, I must help to endure.
When I see pain, I must help to find the cure.
When I see another fall, I give it all to help them rise.
A gift and a burden, still, I must hide the pain in my eyes.

For I too struggle. Who will help me to endure?
For I too have pains. Who will help me find the cure?
If I should ever fall, who can I reach my hand out to?
No answer. I pray falling is something I never do.

I will show only strength, and continue to hide my pain.
When clouds gather, I will bring the sun, suppressing the rain.
I will trade my happiness, that others may succeed.
I will go without, so that others may never need.
All the while longing for the one that will give me their all.
Will look into my eyes, and whisper, “It’s ok to fall”.
