Until We Meet Again


I will never go to visit your grave
I know you are not there
Your grave would never talk to me
it contains only a shell.

I'll look for you in soft warm rain,
in grass that grows so green.
In trees with leaves and blossoms lush
in flowers that bloom in spring

In summer heat that turns grass brown,
in thunderstorms so fierce.
in sunsets that glow red and orange
in sunrises promising a new day of peace.

When fall comes and
leaves turn gold and red.
I'll  hear you in the autumn wind
that blows across the land.

In winter I will be so sad
the wind is harsh and cold.
but I hope that I will see you
in the clouds and in the snow.

I pray when my life on earth is done
and I leave this vessel behind.
That I will see you again on the other side
And together we will ride.

The wind of thunderstorms and rain,
to reach the stars above.
and watch the sun set below the sea
and watch the ones we love.

I want you to know that I loved you
the way only a first love can be
With fire and passion and smiles and tears
And devotion so complete.

We did not last, that makes me sad,
we were not meant to be,
But you kept a huge piece of my heart
and you took it to your grave.

I hope you greet me when I cross
that river that runs through the veil.
At least to say you are glad
I finally made it there.

Please know that I will never forget you
I will never put you away
I will keep your memory deep in my heart
And hope to see you again some day.

I know you are still around
in many different ways
And you will let us know when you come
all we have to do is believe.

Please know  I would have followed
you to the ends of the earth.
We would have destroyed each other,
but the ride would have been worth it.

So as you travel through your new world,
please take care to remember me.
I hope I will see you again soon
in the sunsets and storms on the sea.
