Senior Gals Gossip And Eat At Betty's Diner >
Morning Gloria !

Daybreak is here fresh with dew,
Gloria's dressed in something new,
Today's choice a mismatched riot,
neighbors smiling when they spy it.

Down the walk with purse and keys,
in spite of old rheumatic knees.
Pass the yard with plastic rooster,
off to get a caffeinated booster.

To the diner, now she's got an appetite,
for gossip and pie, a sheer delight.
Sisters waiting in the entry hall,
Now they can be seated one and all.

Coffee pouring with today's news,
Have you seen Velma's new shoes?
Gossip spilled, dirt hits the fan,
We've got ourselves a new mailman.

Poor Hester's away for her mom's funeral.
Is it too early to get the egg and tuna roll?
Ethel's only son's come out as queer,
So much for having grandbabies dear.

Louise, who's that sitting right over there?
Is that you-know-who? Have him pull up a chair.
While hens preen blue hair and flowered dress,
Charlie sits next to his favorite gal Bess.

Now we're off to a thrilling start,
Do I smell Old Spice? Be still my heart.
Charlie's meal done, goodbye kiss for every lady,
Oh well, who wants more fried steak and gravy?

Ladies, How 'bout more hot coffee?
Where the heck's our waitress Flossy?
All that gum-flappin' made my mouth dry,
What good is coffee without pecan pie?

They get looks from the diner owner Betty,
who tells her husband Bob he'd better be ready.
Why? Well, you know this old, rowdy bunch,
They just can't shut up and it's almost lunch!
