This piece reflects upon life with Schitzophrenia.
They lurk in the shadows;

eyes glistening with pleasure,

as their arms reach out

to pull,

th grab,

to rip me to pieces.

I try to ignore

their silent glares

by closing my

frightened eyes.

I attempt to think

happy thoughts to block

out the horror in front of me.

I dare to take another glance,

and there he is.

The source of my nightmares

stands right before my eyes.

I back away slowly,

trying to escape, while

he stands,smiling his sinister smile.

I turn and sprint away from my fears,

away from him.

my breath coming in shallow gasps,

I run until my

lungs ache and

I can go no further.

I stop, and listen

to the sounds of th Earth.

No sounds of pursuit,

no footsteps,

no breating but my own.

I slowly

turn around

I am

alone.
