Chapter Nine
Las Plagas and the Dark Deeds of Los Illuminados

         More or less I plan to make it, on Separate Ways, because I would have interaction with Krauser, Wesker, and Ada. So, it will coincide with the main game a bit, but otherwise, it will follow a different path… I’ll probably take more time to think about this one.


The Parasites and Ada's Betrayal

         6 years have passed since the events that occurred. Now that I’ve returned from my mission, I have chosen to update my log of events with this new account.

         It was due to Wesker’s efforts primarily that we had the technology that we had at our disposal, that and the Agency had kept us hidden. But the acquisition of the Red Queen had paved the way for what Wesker had been touting for some time now, the revival of a new Umbrella with Wesker as the leader. But there were other things in the way of this plan, for now it had to be put on hold, when we learned of Ramon Salazzars dealings with Osmund Saddler, involving the Plagas, we had to move in to collect immediately.

         It was time to go in and collect the Plagas parasites, Krauser's inability to pull out with the parasites, left us no choice, Ada and I were to go in, pull Krauser and the samples out. I went to the morning briefing and sat in my usual chair at the table, Krauser’s empty, Ada sitting to my right, and Wesker coming in and sitting across from me. "Krauser has had too many difficulties in retrieving the sample, he cannot retrieve it and get out undetected and I have reason to believe that his cover has become shaky, I’m sending you two in, in order to retrieve the samples. Your flight leaves as soon as you arrive at the private airport, once you have retrieved the samples I want you to radio me ASAP, and a chopper will be sent to pick you up, make sure that Krauser comes with you, I suspect that he has taken the Plagas sample into himself. If he is uncooperative or is under the control of the parasites, eliminate him. Any questions? No? Good" he said a smile on his face. Ada left the room to go and get her gear that she had prepared.

         "Do you know what it will mean if we retrieve the sample?" he asked me. "Not really" I replied not hiding my confusion as to why he was asking me. "It means that we will be able to buy into the new corporation S with a thing like this" he said cracking a grin, it vanished almost as quickly. "I suspect betrayal from the agency, and I have reason to believe that they have ordered Ada to betray me" he said, his tone much more serious than before. "I want you, to get Krauser out, and make sure that Ada does as she is told, if she acts suspicious I want you to eliminate her, do not terminate Krauser unless you have to, which I doubt that he will hesitate to be returning, so get him out and kill Ada if you must, do I make myself clear?" he asked. "Crystal" I replied and went and collected my gear.

         My modified .50 was placed in my holster, I hooked the satellite receiver on my belt and placed my wireless mic in my ear and made sure that Wesker could be heard through it, it was connected to the satellite wirelessly, a true marvel of the era in comparison to our days in STARS, I put on my combat vest, it was a lot like Chris's tactical vest that I had seen during our Veronica mission, it held my sharpened combat knife in the usual sheath, along with a couple of clips of ammo, including my custom TMP with stock, nearly a 100 round clip capacity and 2 clips of ammo for it, 3 including the one loaded, but my new 9mm sat in its holster an upgraded Blacktail, it had 5, 25 round clips, 6 including the one loaded in it, I put the grappling gun on my waist as well, and laced my boots. I was prepared, a rocket launcher was placed on the chopper for our use under desperate circumstances. Ada wore a sexy red dress, her knife, pick, and wireless communicator strapped to her thigh, as well as her grapple gun, 9mm Punisher, and a modified custom TMP, she did not have a receiver and therefore I would have to contact her through the wireless satellite receiver.

         I looked at her, and listened to Wesker over my microphone. "Have you taken off yet?" he asked. "Yes" I replied softly, "we will be arriving in about an hour and a half, I will contact you as soon as I land" I added. An hour and a half precisely, we landed at a private airfield and got off the plane, I turned on the satellite picture receiver and Wesker appeared on the screen, I heard him through the mike. "Watch Ada, carefully.. And remember your mission, obtain the sample, get Krauser out and get out of there!" he said coolly sitting in his comfortable little chair. Ada and I rode in one of our contacts stealth helicopters and dropped into the local territory. Ada and I moved quickly through the forest and grappled onto the roof tops, I grappled and got into the tower near the building that lead to the church. I took out my binoculars and looked around, noticing Ada land near the tower and hide behind a wall and observe the people that were working aimlessly in the warm air of the day, unfortunately I did not pack light and was hot as hell in this humid weather.

         I watched as two of the villagers approached Ada and attempted to kill her, she threw the grapple line in between them and tripped the woman assailant into the wall the man being thrown into her, breaking his head against the wall and crushing the woman under his weight. My transmitter beeped and I picked it up off my waist and pushed the receive button, the screen came up, it was Wesker. "The villagers are infected with the Plagas, ring the church bell, that should quiet them down" came Weskers cold voice over my mike. "Sounds like they’re a bunch of good little boys and girls" came Ada’s sarcastically smooth voice. Wesker continued to speak to me, "once the church bell is rang I will send you a map of the region with your next objective marked on it, once you reach it, I will contact you again" he said calmly. Moments later, a map appeared on screen with the villages chief’s house marked, I then heard a gunshot ring out.

Ghosts From the Past

         I looked down to determine the source of the shot and saw a lone man surrounded by the villagers. The man resembled Leon Kennedy, the police officer that I had briefly encountered in Raccoon city, this was confirmed when I heard Ada exclaim, "Leon!" She quickly ran to the house across from the two story one and grappled to the top, and grabbed a key, and ran to the building that lead to the church, unlocked the door and disappeared into it, presumably to go and ring the church bell. I stayed behind and watched as Leon ran into the two story building, then a couple of the villagers surrounded the house, two of them banging on the door and the others at the windows, one threw up a ladder that smashed the upstairs window. I heard the roar of a chainsaw, and saw a big man with a bag over his head and he headed for the door. "Interesting" I thought "they know how to use tools as weapons, so they must retain a large percentile of their hosts original intelligence."  The chainsaw maniac broke through the door and was knocked down with a thundering blast from a shotgun, and he went down… hard. The other villagers stupidly piled into the opening and were treated to the same thing, however others broke through the door, and they surrounded him again as he ran into the house that Ada had jumped to. Suddenly the church bell rang, and all of the villagers dropped their tools and weapons, and looked in the direction of the church. "Hmm... appears that Wesker was right about the bell after all." I thought as the villagers walked toward the building and left the area.

         Shooting two villagers on my way to the chiefs house, I flipped over the locked double doors and ran up to the chiefs house, using my grappling gun, I landed softly on top of roof, and suspended in front of the window looking into the chiefs bedroom. Ada undid the latch on the other side and I quietly entered the room, sitting in a chair, I was reading the chief's notes when Ada received contact from Wesker, "Luis has been captured, I want you to go and let him out" he said to Ada over her communication device. "I’ll stay here, you go ahead and get Luis" I said as she ran out the door. "Luis Sera, the contact in our little plan, your average Spaniard indeed, scruffy beard and shaggy hair, he could shoot like no one else's business, guess you cant judge a book by its cover huh?” I thought to myself. I listened carefully to the noise on Ada’s com link, shots here and there and then a gasp, “Leon.” “Leon?” I thought, “so the government lap dog must’ve been captured by the chief and his men.” A couple of minutes passed and I heard someone coming from the direction of the well in the back yard. “Time to make a quick exit” I thought as I opened and jumped out the window, shooting my grapple gun and flying up to and landing on top of the roof. I carefully positioned myself so that I could not be spotted and watched as Ada came running up the path, and used her grapple to get on top of the roof as well. I was about to say something when I heard a loud thump below me, followed by a voice that said, “you carry the same blood as us it seems, nevertheless, you’re an outsider, just remember…if you become unpleasant to our eyes, you will face severe consequences.”

         “Must be the village chief” I thought, and watched Ada drop down in front of the window. Moments later I heard another commotion and shooting, Ada flew up landed on the roof, dropped down to the path and ran. She didn’t get far, just up ahead a group of Ganado’s surrounded her, she drew her gun and was about to fire when a Ganado near the house fired a blow dart and hit her in the back with it, she fell gracefully as the Chief and the sniper went and had the men take her away.

         "Wesker, Ada has been captured" I quickly radioed in. "Uh huh, I want you to proceed on with your mission anyway, its her fault for getting captured, keep going" his voice commanded coldly over the speakers. "Understood" I replied and proceeded on ward, returning to the second farm I noticed that night was falling fast, I decided to bunk in a lone house that I found just beyond it. Nearly six hours passed, I was awoke by the sound of falling rain and crackling thunder, and the beeping of my satellite feed. "Yes?" I asked wearily over the com. "Have you retrieved the sample yet?" came Wesker’s crisp voice over the speakers. "Not yet, I’m working on it" I replied. "The castle is not far from your present location, I want you to go there and find Salazar, interrogate him, find out what he knows, then dispose of him and move on" he then commanded. "Understood" I replied. I left the house and threw the switch for the left pathway, sneaking by a large group of Ganado’s was not easy, but I only had to kill one of them and I dispatched him with a neck snap, I was close to the door, when one of them came running through the end door, he shouted something and all of them ran to the entrance. "What’s going on?" I thought to myself. Getting out of my hiding place, I walked to the double doors and went through, upon exiting that little area, I was greeted to an immense chasm, I noticed a lone house to the right, and a lift in the distance to the left.

         I went across the rope bridge and used my grappling hook to get over the door with what appeared to be an eye scanner in it. I moved up the trail using the forest as cover. And beheld an immense castle, I walked across the bridge, and went onward, I evade more Ganado’s and used my grappling hook to get up onto the rooftops of the castle, I was sitting down for a moment reading a map that I had found when I heard something down below. I looked out into the hedge maze and saw Leon running through it, shooting the dogs and like. I used my hook to get back down there, and entered the bedroom, Ada stepped into view, gun raised. "So there you are" I said, a mild expression of surprise on my face. "Yeah, they tried to sacrifice me" she replied. "What’s the news on the sample?" I asked her. "I don't know" she replied "Luis is supposed to get one, look for him". "Right" I quickly said and left the bedroom, moving on I came to an exposed area, looking down to the lower level from the balcony, I saw a girl, trapped against the wall by 3 iron braces.

         "Must be the Presidents daughter" I thought and moved on into the next area, and took the private rail cart back and waited. Later on Leon and Ashley came by and put the pieces of the puzzle into place, I followed them into the room afterwards and followed more tracks of yet another private cart. When I reached the end of it, I heard gun fire coming from the left, and then a girls piercing scream, and more gun fire and a loud rumble, I ran with super human speed to the next area and came upon a large Novistador nest, passing under it I jumped over to the drawbridge and dropped onto the other side of it.  I was at a strange type of elevator when I heard another scream, I looked up and saw one of the insects carrying Ashley off, I jumped up out of the hole and watched as her kicking form disappeared into the distance heading for a large castle in the distance. I chuckled, "Leon’s not doing a very good job of protecting the presidents daughter." Just then Ada made an appearance, stepping from behind a small shack nearby, tacking a note to the wall of it. "What do we do now?" I asked her. "I got a message from Krauser, we need to go on out to the island where the labs are, the samples we need are not here, and Saddler got the sample Luis had" she replied. "There's a boat on the other side of that castle, if we can get to it, we can go to the island, that’s what Krauser said” she continued.


Chapter Ten
The Island
         
         Later on, I reached the boat, Ada was no where in site, I got in the boat, later on, she came and sat in the driving seat, I heard someone coming and ducked into a storage compartment on the back of the boat, I heard her voice "Need a ride handsome?" "Who the hell is she talking to?" I thought to myself. "Leon, damn, why are we giving him a lift?" I thought irritated and then it came to me, what if I could use Leon to do an initial penetration of the islands defenses that way I could sneak into the labs and steal the samples. Later the boat slammed hare into the rocks, I heard Ada say something to Leon, and she use her grapple gun and Leon drove the boat to a nearby cove and docked it. I waited a couple of minutes and got out and heard gun shots, I hurried to the other side of the cove and grappled into a window like opening in the rocks. I quickly infiltrated the base, one step ahead of Leon, I got to one room and a large door was in my way, suddenly it opened and a large group of Ganado’s swarmed me, I leg swept the first one, and drew my knife, plunging it into the first’s throat, I withdrew it and cut another ones knees he fell as I got to my feet, I thrust punch another one which collide with one behind it and smashed into the wall. I hurried to the control room, and watched on the cameras as two soldiers "played" with the presidents daughter. "Its too bad that Leon fails as a protector" I thought

         "I almost feel sorry for that little brat." I moved on and quickly ran past a hall that lead to her room, and reached a large dumping area, I plucked two flash grenades and threw the first one in the midst of the group of Ganado’s in the lower part of the room, I hurried across and was at the door when I tossed the second one. I stood briefly looking at X rays for some unknown organism that I had yet to encounter, according to the X rays the creature had been implemented with several modifications in comparison to its non spiky cousin the Regenerator.

         I entered the labs, and saw the malformed abomination standing around, I heard it's disgusting wheezing from barely 60ft away, I aimed my .50 at its disgusting head as it turned in my direction, the deep powerful shot crackled through the silence, decimating the Iron Maidens head, I walked over to its fallen body, and suddenly it got back up, "SHIT!" I jumped through the glass looking into the labs, I fired again and again, suddenly its body had a reaction and it bubbled up and exploded. I collected the samples from the lab and went to the communication tower to request evac, I then remember my connection to Wesker, and called him instead. "Wesker, I have the samples, requesting evac as soon as possible" I breathed into the mike, Krauser showed up later on, with Ada. "Been a long time" Krauser said, a grin on his face. Ada leaned against the wall as I sat in a chair, I didn't tell either of them that I had the samples. "What’s the news on our friend Leon?" Krauser said, asking Ada. "He's not making it easy, the sample?" she asked in reply. "Saddler's got it, it seems he sniffed out our little game" he said, a small bit of irritation in his voice. "Terrific" Ada replied, with her usual smug looks. "Just so we understand each other clearly... I don't trust you, nor does Wesker, if you try to do anything funny... I will kill you" Krauser then said. "Well I met Wesker long before you" Ada replied smartly. "We'll see soon enough if you did" Krauser replied. "Yeah, we'll see..." replied Ada as she walked out the door.

         After Ada left the room, Krauser turned his attention to me. I shrugged and he then said, "Wesker had ordered me to kill Leon, due to Ada's lack of competence in the matter." "I see" I replied mildly and got up and left with Krauser to go and exterminate Leon. We quickly caught up with him, and I stood on a balcony, as Leon entered the upper parts of the room, via elevator lift, and Krauser crotched into position. Leon entered the center of the platform, and Krauser sprang! In a flash of speed, Krauser cut Leon’s cheek as Leon barely stepped out of the way. "Been a long time... Comrade" said Krauser menacingly as he stood up. "Krauser!" Leon stated in surprise. "Told you I died in the crash 2yrs ago didn't they?" Krause said not taking his eyes off of Leon. "Your the one who kidnapped Ashley" Leon replied. "You catch on quick, as expected, after all you and I both know where we come from" He replied, and did a knife swing. "What do you want?" Leon asked. "The sample that Saddler developed, that’s all" Krauser replied taking another swing. "What about Ashley?" Leon asked.
         "Oh I needed her to buy Saddler's trust in me, like you, I'm American" He replied, smirking and kicking up a barrel and attempting to stab Leon. "You got her involved just for that?" Leon asked, anger rising in his voice, he attacked Krauser. The fight reminded me of a sword fight for a moment, then Leon ducked under one of Krauser's swings, and sliced his knife across Krauser's chest, Krauser merely grunted and attacked again. This time, Krauser disarmed Leon, he spun him around and delivered a well placed kick to the back. "All for Umbrella's sake" Krauser said. "Umbrella?" Leon asked startled. "Almost let it slip, enough talk die Comrade!" Krauser yelled and jumped on top of Leon attempting to put his knife into Leon's chest. Just then a shot rang out, and Krauser's knife went flying. I looked up stunned, and saw Ada standing on the opposite balcony with her gun pointed at Krauser.

         "Well if it isn't the bitch in the red dress" Krauser stated irritated. "Looks like we have the upper hand here" she said looking at Leon. Krauser snickered and back flipped onto the balcony I was standing on, landing next to me. "You may be able to prolong your life, but its not like you can escape your inevitable death is it?" Krauser said. With that he and I ran. Later when we stopped, "it seems Wesker was right after all, she has betrayed us" he said, his voice rising with anger. "That’s not important" I replied. “You will eliminate Leon" I said. I then showed him a perfect location for fighting. "These ruins will be ideal for your battle, wait here and get ready" I said, "I'll watch from over there" I added pointing at one of the spires on top of the main part of the ruins. I hurried over to it and awaited the duel between Krauser and Leon to commence.

         A couple of hours passed and Leon emerged through the gate. I watched with interest, as Leon walked across the walkway, I heard Krauser's intimidating voice over the deadly silence of the ruins. "So you two are all hooked up now is that it?" He asked Leon. "Where’s Ashley?" Leon asked demandingly. "Do you really want to know?" He asked, "She’s beyond that gate, but you'll need 3 insignias to open it" he added. "What are you going to do Krauser?" Leon interrupted. "There’s one in the north, and the other in the east" Krauser continued. "Let me guess, you got the last one?" Leon interrupted again. "Which pretty much means your on a tight leash" Krauser said, grinning and pulling out his TMP. "Seems you thought this one out pretty well" Leon added. I watched as Leon threw his grapple hook at Krauser and ducked behind some cover nearby. He ran into a room and climbed a ladder, Krauser and he knife fought multiple times, Leon shooting at Krauser, and Krauser dodging with ease. Their battle raged on across the area, fighting in close quarters was exciting to watch. I set the charges during the fight, once Krauser gave the word, I would activate the countdown and blow this area to hell. I stood for awhile and watched as they continued fighting, "what do you intend to do by restoring Umbrella?" Leon asked Krauser, as he picked up one of the insignia’s. "To restored balance to this insane world of ours" Krauser replied. "A psycho like you couldn’t bring balance to anything" Leon then replied. They continued fighting, I noticed that Krauser was starting to get frustrated as Leon survived individual scuffles over and over again.

         I dropped a couple of the spider drones into the pit, Leon eventually came by and blasted most of them, Krauser said something to Leon, to which he replied, "My past I suppose". I watched and waited, Leon eventually reached the spired area, I reached for the remote detonator as Krauser jumped on top of the spire, across from mine, Leon picking up the second insignia. "Two down one to go Krauser" Leon said smugly. Krauser merely laughed, and tossed the TMP aside. I watched in amusement as his arm transformed! "So this is the power of the parasites?" I asked myself as Krauser prepared to attack. "Prepare for your death Leon! AAARGGHH!!!" Krauser said and then jumped toward Leon, who rolled out of the way. I activated the timers, 5 minutes and this place would blow. I continued watching the battle, it was truly a sight to behold. But somehow, Leon defeated Krauser, he fell to the ground with a thud, and appeared to be dead. Leon walked over to him and picked up the insignia. He then looked up and saw me. I dropped down off of the spire.

         "Who are you?" He asked me. "Hmpf...I met you in Raccoon City" I replied coldly. "Why are you here?" he asked, I noted the slight amount of irritation in his voice. "I came here with Krauser" I replied coldly. "You... you bastard, you helped him kidnap Ashley" He said raising his gun. I moved at superhuman speed and attacked him, knocking him down on the ground. "Don't be a fool" I said to him, "you should get out of here, this place is going to blow in about 2 minutes" I added. Looking over Krauser's body again, I left the area, and so did Leon. I got a call from Wesker. "Report, times almost up." "I have the samples, and am awaiting evac, you were right about Ada, she had betrayed us" I added. "Hmm...she told me that you and Krauser had died, I sent her on ahead" I replied, a slight hint of amusement in his voice. "I want you to dispose of Saddler" he then added. I got through the gate just beyond the destroyed ruins and looked up to see an explosion, created by a choppers missiles hitting their mark on one of the machine gun nesting towers. "Leon must've radioed backup" I thought to myself, and used my grappling gun to get by all of the areas that were crawling with Ganado’s. I hurried ahead, just in time to see another explosion, this time a rocket fired from a portable rocket launcher. I watched as the chopper fell out of the sky like a rock, I chuckled as I watched Leon run toward the cliff. I then moved on and watched Leon, drop into a hole, Ada dropped in shortly after, I followed, and watched in interest as Ada approached Leon.

         Leon suddenly had a convulsion. "Leon, you okay?" Ada asked. He suddenly turned and began to choke her. I watched as she stabbed him in the thigh with her pick and rammed her knee into his abdomen. "We have to get that parasite out of your body!" Ada gasped. "Yeah... but first I have to save Ashley" he breathed shallowly. He stumbled through the door after Ada, and I followed. I used my grapple hook and got to the top of the prison, I saw as Krauser ripped a girder off of the top of a nearby building, and threw it at the ground, I looked down and saw Ada narrowly roll out of the way, she looked up toward Krauser and used her grapple hook to fly over him. I heard her plain as day from where I stood. "Krauser, I'm sorry, I was wrong when I reported you dead to Wesker, think of all the paperwork I would have to fill out, if you were to show up alive" she said smirking. Krauser and Ada fought, similar in ways that Krauser and Leon fought.

         Eventually Ada overcame Krauser and killed him. I watched as she grappled away, and I moved over to Krauser’s body and checked it. "Get up Krauser, you're not dead yet" I said to him. He rose up with a slight groan. "That bitch is tougher than she looks" He complained wearily. I shouldered him up, and gave him some morphine. "You should stay here and rest for a moment, I'll go on ahead and clear a path, and come back to retrieve you" I said. "Alright" he said, I noted the defeated pride in his voice and moved on. I slipped through the vent and watched as Ada defeated Saddler, she walked over and got the sample he dropped. Just then one of his tentacles reached out of his cloak and knocked her unconscious. I snickered and dropped down in front of the double doors.

         "So Saddler, that was the extent of your power? If so it was very weak and pathetic" I said smirking at his astonished face. "Ahh the audacity of youth" he then said and rushed me. I still remember as I took hold of his wrist, spun it and kicked him in the back, knocking him to the ground. "It seems that you are much stronger than you appear" he rasped at me. "I could say the same about you" I replied. We fought again, I kicked him in the stomach, and thrust punching him in the face, knocking him into the capsule in the center of the room. He ran forward and knocked me into the wall, a crack forming on it where I hit. I got up and grabbed one of his tentacles swung him around and threw him into the fire. He got back out of it and we locked horns again, and he used his tentacle to knock me into the stairs, destroying them.
         I fell unconscious, and awoke only about 20 minutes later, I got up, noticing Ada was gone. "Shit, that bastard got the jump on me" I thought enraged. I busted down a door and came to a small tunnel, a couple of Ganado solider bodies lay nearby, freshly dispatched. I heard a bit of grunting in the other room, and looked around the corner as Ashley’s parasite was removed from her body. Leon and Ashley moved on ahead, I looked over the contraption, and picked up a report off one of the desks, and put it in my file data bank on my receiver. I then moved on, and came upon a densely fogged area, and saw Ashley standing alone. I looked at her for a moment, when she turned around.

         "Who are you?" She asked. "Lets just say, its better if you not know" I replied walking past her. I fired my grapple up to the top, and landed next to Ada, I looked out onto the scene, Saddler had another form. Leon was holding his own, I watched as Ada threw him the special rocket that we brought. After Saddler was dead, I watched as Ada got the samples and jumped off the cliff, into the waiting chopper. She pressed the activation button of the bombs that had been set up around the island, and tossed Leon the keys to a jet ski that was in a tunnel not far from here. I quickly pushed the limits of my super speed, got Krauser and ran even faster back to the boat that had brought Ada and I to the island.

         It was only moments later that the Island exploded. We returned to the island, I radioed Wesker. "Wesker, I failed, Ada has escaped with the sample, Krauser is alive" I breathed into the mic. "I see" Wesker replied, a small amount of irritation in his voice. "Ada is sending you a false sample" I continued "and Krauser and I need evac pronto" I added. "Of course" Wesker replied “I'll bring the chopper myself" Wesker added. About another hour passed, Krauser and I spun yarns on old war stories and things. We heard a chopper in the distance, it landed near our location, in the ruins that Krauser had fought Leon in. The chopper landed, and Wesker stepped out of the pilot's seat. "You've both done well enough, at least you are still of use to me" He said addressing us as he walked toward us. We loaded up into the chopper, and disappeared into the rising sun.

         I looked up at my computer, after recording all of my memories of these events, they were surely something.
