How do you react when your child says he or she needs to live a different life? Listen To The Children by Barbara Lynn Terry June 10, 2009 Our children are our most precious miracles sent to us by God almighty to show us love, acceptance, and understanding. Children are innocent in their thoughts and deeds even if they may seem cruel to other children. They don't know the difference as they copy us. Children say the darndest things that make the adults smile and laugh, but if we listen very closely to what our children are saying we can learn a lot from them. Our children are individuals and have unique thoughts and dreams and we must allow them to grow into the lives they see that they must live to be happy. If our children seem to go in different paths, that is because they are not us and cannot live our lives. They should be allowed to grow as they see fit. We should all take the time to be accepting, loving, and understanding toward our children, because they are the lives that will keep this world going in the mantra of the universe. So when your child says they cannot live as they are, but have picked a different path, do not berate them, do not punish them, but love, accept, and try to understand what they are going through. Love your child unconditionally regardless of how you think he or she must live. They have the dreams of the future, and we must allow them to follow those dreams.
