Free Verse Poem About Baldness |
Ode to a Bad Toupee Sadly, he stood there, Road kill on his pate Hiding nothing, Just gaining more attention. Attention to a bad toupee is relentless Cheap doesn’t hide the facts, It only shows his vanity The smallness of the man What would cause a man to consider this? One must lack comfort in ones own skin, I think If your vanity would permit you another view You might even chuckle along under your breath Natural would be more pleasant but vanity rules A road kill on his pate, unnatural, sad Raccoon-like in shape, color and size Not unlike Ralph Cramden on Lodge night A few dollars more invested keeps the cynics at bay The shortcoming of the man hidden in a woven mat Insecurities hiding under the rug so personal Far from prying eye views and tart remarks Yet, the road kill dominates the scenery Sitting atop his head Crying out, Look at me and laugh!!! Silly boy, we all know The toupee you wear A target for our thorns and barbs Quietly, we whisper and laugh Your vanity and cheapness as sad as our comments Our thoughts cruel and unkind Almost as much as the road kill That sits quietly on your head, macabre |
