Comedy...What do you use when there is nothing else?
Entry for the "The Writer's CrampOpen in new Window..
Prompt: use the line "I saved it for a rainy day."

“Hurry up, we are going to be late,” Sarah said, while she headed for the door. “We got to be to the church by ten.”

“I’m coming,” Tiffany hollered back, as she grabbed the gown and the makeup bag. Slam! Click!, and the pair were off, trying to be careful with the gown.

“Betty is going to be pissed if we don’t get this to her in time.” Sarah always fretted about the little things.

“We’ll get there in time. It’s not like it’s her first wedding or anything.” And it wasn’t, Betty had been married three times before, but of course, this one was the one, Tiffany reflected.

“I know that, but still we need to make it there,” Sarah said as she drove rapidly along the freeway. With fifteen minutes to ten, she made a sharp turn off the freeway. Once they reached their destination, they rushed the dress into the church and back to the bridal chamber.

“'Bout time you guys got here,” Betty retorted as she grabbed the dress to start changing. Within minutes, she had her dress on. “Can one of you zip me?” as she held the back of her dress together the best she could.

Since Tiffany was messing with the makeup bag, Sarah went over to help her.

“Hold still, let me get this for you.” The zipper made it three-fourths of the way up when Sarah swore at the top of her lungs. This surprised Tiffany since Sarah hardly ever used swear words, so she went over to see what happened. Tiffany was surprised to see the zipper had pulled away from the fabric and now left a gap showing Betty’s back.

“I thought you had this fitted?” Tiffany asked.

“I did, I also told her to take it in a half inch so my boobs won’t droop.” To that response, both Sarah and Tiffany shook their heads and laughed.

Tiffany went back over the makeup bag and said,” Hold on, I got something,” then searched through the bag. The other girls looked at each other quizzically and then back over at their sister. “Here it is!”

“What’s that?” Sarah asked.

“Duct tape, I saved it for a rainy day.” She pulled off a piece. “Here, unzip her and hold her dress.” Tiffany then used the duct tape to repair the dress. After a few minutes, she zipped her sister all the way up. “There, and you can’t see the tape.”

“Why on earth would you keep duct tape in your makeup bag?” Sarah queried.

“Don’t you know? Duct tape and I love you will fix anything. I knew I love you wasn’t going to make it better, so I used duct tape.” she grinned.

“I don’t care, as long as it works. By the way, your brilliant and I love you sis. You saved my day!” Betty said, as she hugged Tiffany before their dad knocked on the door to come in.

“Are you ready?” he asked. “By the way, you all look lovely. And don't forget, I love you. Now get your butt's moving, you're running late.” The girls just giggled and proceeded to walk out to the chapel.
