concrete
earth under my feet
grab a cup – styrofoam
rubs under my calloused tips
flaking off and fluttering down

CRACK!

turn – see – look
what was it?
peer into the corners
nothing there

CRACK!

shake your shoulders
unsettled
shivers creeping along your spine
rub the tips on the styrofoam cup
need something solid
anchor

CRACK!

tumble to the ground
feel it shake
tremble
eyes burning
cup rolling on the ground
mocha chocolate spilled
gone

CRACK!

huddle in corner
is it over?
please, please
beg
plead
no more

stand up
hand on wall –
need something solid
squint

what happened?

wavering vision
nothing’s the same
