The man in the moon was happily in love,
he had a girl brighter than the stars above,
he kept her close and never left her,
she was his universe and his center.

Over the years his strong love grew,
stronger than my love for you,
but he was jealous of the stars,
so he kept a watchful eye on Mars.

The man in the moon was very afraid,
so he locked her up so she never strayed.
He kept her under lock and key,
to spare himself a catastrophe.

He noticed the girl was looking blue,
so he knew what he had to do,
he let her free he let her leave,
but he kept his heart always on his sleeve.

The girl in the moon took off that day,
the man in the moon knew she wouldn't stay.
He mooned over his long lost lover,
