Day 7 entry in the Rhythm & Rhyme poetry challenge. |
** Image ID #1544389 Unavailable ** My Wish Dismayed by you, O dismal sight I see Exposed and deep, your punctured scruples show A wretched figure, gaunt and lacking glow In clover riches, you’ve forgotten me Exposed and deep, your punctured scruples show Unsightly conduct, creeping though like weeds A mess you leave for others to contend Is there no time in life for you to mend? A wretched figure, gaunt and lacking glow Such wasted splendor, once with verve and glee Allured to twist and grow by gold pretense Have left me here to watch in ill sixpence. In clover riches, you’ve forgotten me Recall your roots from where you came to be And find a wish among the forage floor To sprout with me in spirit as before This poem was written in the Lilibonelle form for the "Invalid Item" challenge. This form is made up of four quatrains. The lines of the first quatrain repeat at the beginning lines for the rest of the stanzas. Explained: The second line of the 1st stanza becomes the first line of the second stanza. The third line of the 1st stanza becomes the first line of the 3rd stanza. And the fourth line of the 1st stanza becomes the 1st line of the 4th stanza. You can use a specific rhyme pattern if you would like or make it free. The choice is yours! http://pages.prodigy.net/sol.magazine/pl01form.htm#LILIBONELLE |
