As dawn breaks the sun scatters its scarlet light,

It ushers the beginning of a new day,

The sleepy farm wakes up with spirits bright.

The sun peeps through the clouds hung tight,

Darkness of the night is dispelled right away,

As dawn breaks the sun scatters its scarlet light.

Farmers ready to set their chores aright,

With trucks and tractors they start their workday.

The sleepy farm wakes with spirits bright.

Slowly the sky is suffused with amber light,

I wonder at Nature's colorful display,

As the dawn breaks, the sun scatters its scarlet light.

Pigs in the pen oink and have a rough fight.

From a big haymow a hungry cow eats hay.

The sleepy farm wakes up with spirits bright.`

Such a pleasure to behold the rural sight!

The simple beauty of the farm makes me gay.

As dawn breaks the sun scatters its scarlet light,

The sleepy farm wakes up with spirits bright..

Form:Villanelle

The Villanelle is a great form for those who line to tie repetition in with rhyme. The lower case letters rhyme with ALL instances of that letter (capital or not), and the capital/number lines are refrains and should be repeated exactly as they appear in the first stanza. The stanzas are laid out like this:

A1 b  A2

  a  b  A1

  a  b  A2

  a  b  A1

  a  b  A2

  a  b  A1 A2

Note that the ending stanza is a quatrain whereas the rest of them are tercets. (Hint: try picking common rhymes that a lot of words will rhyme with so you don't get stuck somewhere in the middle!)
