answer the question...
They are the one no one sees
Even though they are not different from you and me
Yes they are among the shadows
But for a shadow light must somewhere be

All they want is a reason
To live, walk, breathe
What is ours?
Is the life we all live in deceit

The footsteps they leave behind
Are ones leading towards nowhere?
For they live life day by day
Hoping for pain so they can at least for a moment care

They are confused for the hand fate gave
They are the ones who pushed it away
Why must they live lives full of anguish?
When they overcome it every day

They are our faults brought to life
For they see every lie
They are the tears in our eyes
As we weep for unkept promises and our hearts cry

They are the ones we chase
Yet the ones we don’t wish to have anything to do with
For they are the truths
To the fake lives we live

They are the shadows that follow us around every corner
The voices in our head
Always seeing, listening
Judging everything said

The baby abortioned
The divorce that helped the parents but broke their child’s heart
The dad that never comes home
The other women that tore a family apart

The teenager who writes the suicide note
The young boy who many believe to be mute
The middle aged women hooked on drugs
The young man who must choose to put down the gun or shoot

They are every situation
Life described in one word
The ones to never listened
When they should be heard

They are invisible to the ignorant
They are truthfully better than us all
Because to them an ending can come at any time
They are not afraid to fall

They will never forget
For to forgive is something different
But at least the live for now
Taking the path that they themselves have chosen to decent

Who are they?
Is a question always unanswered?
For in every situation
A new and different answer is heard
